⚙Things Done Well⚙ Volume 22 - On Launching Programs and Reaching the Right People

Published 8 months ago • 2 min read

Reader! It's been forever. I know.

I've been spending time ruminating of the future of my work. The way I show up, what I have to offer, and the way I tell you and the rest of the world about what I am doing.

And I have some lessons to share!

But first:

  1. Put this on. Trust me. Ruminating requires the right music and I have been steadily adding to this playlist. It's soooo good, my friend. SO GOOD! Headphones recommended.
  2. This is your friendly reminder that anti-racism and decolonization work is truly never done and I invite you to take this workshop with me!! Ta7taliya and the Nahanee Creative deliver excellent workshops, so I guarantee we will be in good hands. I've got my ticket already! See you there.
  3. This one is for my lower mainland neighbours. Would attend a Things Done Well Salon? - I'm dreaming of an in-person event where I invite someone who is doing important things particularly well to present their work, then I/we facilitate some interesting conversation with you the audience, and then we enjoy some music and drinks together until bed time! Would you come out to that kind of a show? Click here to answer a very quick 3 question survey!

NOW! Let's get into it.

Where have I been, right?

Last you heard from me was when I announced the close of the latest enrollment for my professional development program Stop Using Spreadsheet - Start Building Business Systems waaay back at the beginning of June!

Once the doors were closed, I felt wrung out. And I needed to retreat and evaluate if my impact was aligned with my vision for this program.

Here's what I've learned:

Doing a semi-annual enrollment doesn't support the people who this program is for...

I want to be an accessible resource for people making change in the world.

Specifically I want to help build the capacity of the administrators and operations professionals that work for the businesses, agencies, and organisations that are doing the hard work of making change in the world.

And based on the feedback I have been getting, opening my doors twice a year is far from the best way to do this!!

These are my people and they need my help!

As someone who has worked my way from relief receptionist all the way to director of operations across multiple sectors, I know first-hand how few practical, repeatable, and applicable resources are available to folks in those roles.

So I have decided to change things up, and I am hoping for your help to spread the word!

Here are the changes:

  • The program is now open all year round! No more expecting folks to wait for the enrollment to open!
  • Group coaching is now setup as group coaching drop-in sessions that folks can use on a schedule that works best for them!
  • Aaannd (this is a really exciting change!) program alumni will have ONGOING and EXCLUSIVE access to the group coaching drop-ins!!! So even after they are finished the program they can grab a drop-in package and get my direct support for any projects they manage in the future! (at 1/2 of my hourly rate!!)

You can see all of these changes reflected here.

Please help me spread the word (and maybe make a little money for your efforts)!

The people who need my program are busy keeping the wheels on for their organisations and are not seeing my outreach! Which is why I need YOU to help me to get it in front of these hard working people.

Sending the program overview and registration page to 1 or 2 of the ops and/or admin professionals in your life will make a HUGE difference in my outreach and my ability to serve more people!

Also, because I'd much rather PAY YOU than pay for ads or social media marketing. I have created an Affiliate Program that you can signup for here so I can give you a bit of cash for your efforts! All you need to do is sign up to create a unique referral link and start sending it around to anyone you think could benefit!

Thank you in advance and until next time, take good care.

R*

Hello Reader, ✨It's nerd party time!!✨ But, first things first: Find a Palestinian solidarity encampment in your area and give them the money or supplies they need to help them stay the course!! I feel so hopeful that the tide is turning. Support the Freedom Flotilla however you can. This civilian led flotilla has 3 boats, hundreds of civilian volunteers from all over the world, and over 5000 tonnes of aid for the people of Gaza. They have been blocked at every turn and are currently stuck in...

Hello Reader, ✨Happy International Women's Month! (Yep. Month.)✨ First this: Oooh My. Ok. This newsletter has a prerequisite. You are required to take 4min and 12 seconds to watch this RIGHT NOW! I mean it. Goosebumps. It's also been added to the Things Done Well playlist if you can only listen. Trust me though... it's so good. Please consider Donating to the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre in honour of IWD. Or if you are not in the lower mainland of Vancouver I encourage you to find a local...

Hello Reader, ✨It's time to get nerdy together!✨ But, first things first: Listen to this song! Enough by Amahla. Oooh yes. Her voice, the arrangement. So good. Put it on now. Then listen to the rest of the music in this playlist! Use your voice to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. This is a great tool from LeadNow for Canadians to use to call their MPs. They provide a script and will connect you by phone directly to your MP once you fill out the form in the link. Do it today, and then everyday...
